OVERVIEW

The English version of kt wizzap facilitates foreigners to access current KBO rankings and game schedules without the need for constant translation.

Created to address the challenges of ticket purchasing for foreigners in Korea, kt wizzap aims to better the baseball experience for international fans by providing access to detailed information and ticketing services.

PROBLEMS

ESTABLISHING AND COMBINING THE ISSUES

“I want to be able to attend kt wiz baseball games without having to ask my friend to purchase for me.”

“It is so hard to keep track of what is happening in the game because I keep having to translate each word from Korean to English.”

Some may be aware that foreigners and visitors in Korea cannot make any online purchase since every transaction requires personal verifications that only residents of Korea has access to.

How might we give foreigners residing in Korea have access to the kt wiz experience where they can purchase with an overseas credit card without the verification?

LEARNING ABOUT THE TARGET AUDIENCE AND USER PERSPECTIVE

USER RESEARCH

To gain valuable insights and refine the focus on the stated problems, I conducted interviews in survey forms with 10 current veterans residing in Korea about how they currently gain access to korean baseball games and how they make online transactions.

A LOOK INTO THE INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

Most frequently used methods for purchasing game tickets? Website, App, or ask a friend?

If you use a card for transactions, what type of card do you use? Korean Card or Overseas Card?

If there is a baseball app that does not require a Korean phone number or a Korean card, are you willing to go watch games for the designated baseball club?

Almost every respondent stated that they get their game tickets through their peer and they struggle to access current baseball game informations.

They also added that there are only a few existing apps in the market that give foreigners access to services through online transactions.

INTERVIEW INSIGHTS

Online transactions are not an option for foreigners residing in Korea

since all game status and informations on the kt wiz baseball team is in Korean, it is difficult to enjoy fully due to constantly translating.

Difficulties in accessing game information

since users may leave if they aren’t entertained, they would need a way to distract their minds.

RESEARCH TAKEAWAYS

While online transactions in Korea are protected with identity verification for enhanced security, these requirements are causing challenges for foreigners residing in Korea to engage in online transactions smoothly.

Given these observations, we considered various methods to possibly improve the Korean baseball game experience for international fans residing in Korea.

SOLUTION

The English version of the kt wizzap will offer users a platform to gain easy access to current game informations and purchase game tickets and merchandise for the kt wiz baseball games.

After the loading screen, the user is welcomed with the homepage where they can see all the features that could be accessed with an account. User can also switch from English and Korean for the app interface.

The user is able to register for an account which includes just email verification and agreement to the terms and conditions.

KEEP UP WITH THE GAME SCHEDULE

GAMES

One of three main navigations is the games section that displays the game schedules for the upcoming months in either list or calendar form.

The users are also able to search through past game schedules by the arrows or the underlined date shown at the top.

CHEER TOGETHER FOR KT WIZ

TICKETS

Similar to a walk tracker, walkie-talkie tracks the steps of the user and displays the summary of today’s workout. However, the user is connected with other racetalkers to walk together. Users can check out the profile of the other racetalkers, but cannot befriend them to keep anonymity.

The menu navigation displays all main features of the kt wizzap English version including games, cheerleading songs, and notification settings.

Users can edit their profile and access their qr codes along with tickets. Profile can be accessed through any other navigation pages.

AFTERTHOUGHT

Learning about the challenges that international fans in Korea are dealing with when all they want to do is enjoy watching baseball games with their friends and family led the ways to create this English version of kt wizzap. Special thanks to my team, Sunyoung Park and Yuju Lee, and Helixtech Corp for this exciting opportunity to take part in developing the kt wizzap English version.

Some thoughts I had looking back on this project is...

  • collaborating with designers and developers to find the middle ground in the process of app creation

 

  • conducting trend analysis and other app research to make sure the designs align with the current trends in the US
